Scholars Bowl
J P McConnell's Scholars Bowl team competed in its
final tournament of the year March 14th, and did very well in the GATA
State Tournament. From a field consisting of 29 schools and a total of 55
teams, both our "A" and "B" squads finished 7-0 in
the morning preliminaries and advanced to the afternoon playoffs along
with 30 other teams. Our B-team was actually ranked higher as they scored
a higher average for those 7 games. In the afternoon playoffs our B team
won their first match against Oak Mountain Academy's "B" squad,
but then lost to Autrey Mill. Our A team beat the A teams from Jefferson
and West Jackson, but then were eliminated in the round of 8 by that same
Autrey Mill team. Many thanks go out to our team members who got steadily
better as the year went on. They are: Annie H, Jeremy M, Michael S, Suanu
B, Matt C, Zach C, Aaron C, Jazmin M, Travis P, Kira P, Tyler Q, Yash S,
Julie S, Palmer B, and Alma B.
